Jimmy in Alabama writes, “Nate, no one I talk to has the money to buy my product or get started in my business. I’m frustrated! What should I do?”
Here’s the first thing that I want to say to Jimmy, and to all of you who run into the same objection a lot: If you’re getting the same objection over and over again, then there’s something that you’re doing that’s invoking that objection.
Let’s speak directly to the money issue: if everyone you are talking to is giving you the “I don’t have the money” objection, then there’s probably something going on with you as pertains to limiting beliefs concerning money. Maybe somewhere deep down inside YOU think your product costs too much. Of YOU think it costs too much to join your business. Or maybe YOU have this thought that people are going to waste their money: their going to get started with you, and then maybe not make any money, because that’s been your reality so far.
So, I want you to dig deep and have that conversation with yourself, and discern where maybe you are having a challenge with money and somehow you are invoking that when your prospecting and you don’t even realize it.
Here’s that last thing I want to say to you on this matter: People have the money for what they want.
I see poor people all the time who spend a lot of money on expensive cigarettes; a lot of money out drinking in the bars; a lot of money getting expensive artwork put on their bodies. And then they don’t have enough money to pay the rent. They don’t have enough money to do the other things in life they want to do.
I see people who will go shopping at Walmart for retail therapy, and then can’t pay their utility bills.
You see, people have the money for what they really want.
So, it’s your job, Jimmy, to present your opportunity in such a way that it really meets a core human need for that prospect, to make them really want what it is that you have to offer.
I hope those are some good thoughts for you guys on the issue of the objection, “I don’t have the money!”
