Today is #5 for you guys, and here it is: Get Some Sleep

I had a friend of mine recently who told me that he only requires 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and he attributed it to the fact that he lives at a genius level.

What’s interesting about that guy is this: while he is a genius and he is very smart, when we’re together often times he can’t even maintain focus in a conversation; and a lot of times it’s because he’s so tired!

You guys… I don’t care how smart you are, or what level of genius that you think that you are (and very well may be)… or you may say, “Hey, I’m a 5 hour sleeper!” …you’re just not doing what’s best for your mental health! You’re not giving your best to yourself, and your not giving your best to others, so you’ve got to take time to get some sleep.

Invest in a good mattress! It’s an investment in your health. Not only for your body, but for your mind.

Invest in a great pillow for exactly the same reason.

Neuro-chemistry tells us that when we get enough sleep…somewhere between 7 and 9 hours a night…that it makes us both mentally and emotionally resilient. So not only are our thinking patterns functioning the way they need to, but also we’re going to be more stable in our emotions.
