Proverbs 15:22 teaches us that: Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors will succeed.
People ask me sometimes, “Nate…why have you been so successful?” They point to the fact that I’ve accomplished some great things. And I tell them all the time: it’s not so much that I’m just a successful person. It’s that I stand on the shoulders of some really great advice (advisors).
For a lot of years I wanted to do great things. I wanted to play at a big level. And I simply wasn’t doing it.
But when I began to bring wise counsel, good advisors, good coaches into my life, that’s when things began to change.
I used to be 240 lbs – I needed to lose some weight – I consulted people who knew a little bit more than I did about nutrition and exercise – and it seemed to help. I’ve lost about 80 lbs.
I wanted to start to run long distances. And historically I hated running, but I found a great coach that had run multiple 100 Mile races – because I wanted to move into the ultra running world – the next thing you know I’ve run my first ultra race at 31.5 miles. And then on to 40 miles, and now I’ve done my first 50 mile run to date; and now I’m training for my first 100 Mile race later this year. We’ll see how that goes…I’ll keep ya posted! lol
But again, there was a coach involve.
When I wanted to find economic success – when I was working 4 jobs and I was broke – when I didn’t know how to fix myself financially – I found a great leader…a great coach…who could inspire me and teach me what he knew, and allowed him to sew into my life. And that’s how I found economic success.
If you want to do great things, find a great coach.
